Freelance visa — a simple and fast way to obtain residency
One of the most appealing aspects of the UAE, in my opinion, is its highly transparent immigration legislation.
The country is open to anyone who wants to live, work, or study here.
Obtaining a residency permit is probably easier here than anywhere else.
If you’re not an investor, don’t have a large sum of money, aren’t planning to start your own business here, and don’t even have a job offer — but you do have the most important thing, the desire — then the easiest way to settle in the country is by applying for what’s known as a freelance visa.
This is a 1- or 2-year residency visa under the sponsorship of a licensed manpower supply company. It comes with no restrictions, includes a work permit, and can be extended indefinitely.
The application process is extremely simple and takes about 4 weeks. During that time, all you need to provide is a copy of your passport, fill out an online form, undergo a medical test, and submit biometric data.
